PROJECT #1

Project Name: Kairo
About the project? ⤵︎
I started Kairo with an idea in mind: to combat the spread of misinformation and fake media.
The world is currently experiencing the most progressive expansion of artificial intelligence, and there needs to be a tool that can help guide people through what’s real and what’s not. I’m not a programmer, coder, or software engineer by any means, but I have a sense of what’s ahead and why this needs to be dealt with in the here and now.
AI does not need to be stopped in the sense of eradicating it. It’s an event just like the gold rush period of the 19th century. It’s creating jobs or creating the need for new jobs, such as AI trainers and handlers. So, even if we wanted to stop it, we probably couldn’t. It’s a cycle of progression, and will continue to expand over time until it fades out and becomes the norm.
But a crucial point. Like anything else, sitting around and waiting for something to die out is not a very proactive mindset. If we don’t help steer AI in the right direction, it could turn destructive. Signs are already evident in certain uses of AI; for example, the horrific actions people are using it for. But for a more focused view of why I founded Kairo, it creates so much misinformation so quickly that nobody knows what’s real or fake.
This is why I created Kairo; it’s not anything complicated, and it doesn’t even use AI. It’s simply a tool to educate and raise awareness of the dangers posed by fake media, given the advancements in artificial intelligence.
Just to be clear, I am not against AI and think it’s great for specific uses in society. But like anything, or any tool. It can be used for horrific purposes, which is why specific implementations need to be put in place, alongside another tool that can detect false information.
